The GUM Annual Retreat is an event focused on improving the community and professional development of underrepresented minorities, particularly for graduate students although all are welcome. Due to the lack of representation and curbed support for underrepresented minorities, we believe that this event will draw significant attention to the cause and allow for students to interact and build a supportive network of students that have shared experiences as well as utilizing the event to gain professional development skills through speakers and targeted workshops. This event will greatly benefit UT Austin as it will be the first graduate student-organized retreat focused on underrepresented minorities. Please consider making a contribution to support GUM and the graduate URM community at The University of Texas at Austin.
