Longhorn Relief For Hurricane Harvey

In the ongoing aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the unprecedented flooding affecting the homes and communities of as many as one third of University of Texas students, Student Emergency Services in the Office of the Dean of Students continues to support our students in need through distributions from the Student Emergency Fund. This fund was created to help ensure that unforeseen circumstances do not prevent enrolled students from continuing their education at The University of Texas at Austin. This campaign provides our Longhorn family with an opportunity to unite in support of those students most affected by this disaster, and to be ready for future student needs from this and other emergencies.

Latest Updates and Facts

  • So far more than 1,500 current students have reported disaster-caused absences to Student Emergency Services. Among some of the hardest hit were 28 graduate students working at the Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, all of whom have been displaced by the storm.
  • Student Emergency Services has already assigned over $30,000 from the Student Emergency Fund, an amount that the fund usually spends over an entire year, and we have only reached the second day of class.
  • Student Emergency Services expects to distribute significantly more to students as the full scope of the need is revealed.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Please consider making a contribution to the Student Emergency Fund. 100% of your gift will go directly to students facing this disaster or future emergencies.
  • Share this opportunity within your network. Whether you click the Facebook and Twitter links on this page, send an email, or tell a friend - spreading the word of need is important to helping reach our goal.
