Sparring Like Champions
We are
a highly-competitive sport club at the University of Texas at Austin. For 10 years, we've been kicking butt and taking names around the national collegiate Taekwondo circuit. Last year, 19 of our fighters took home 12 medals at the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association championship, defeating fighters from larger Taekwondo programs like the UC System, MIT, Stanford, and the Ivies to make it to the top.
We need
to remain competitive in the ever-evolving Taekwondo world. We need to train with the latest technology that's being used at collegiate and national competitions. The latest trend in Taekwondo is the adoption of the Electronic PSS (Protective Scoring System). These systems allow for more reliable scoring of points and are already in use at the black belt level at nearly all local, state, and national competitions. As our athletes mature and grow as fighters, they will have to learn new strategies to deal with the differences between manual and electronic scoring. We can talk theory all we want, but at the end of the day, without a PSS, we'll end up hitting a ceiling.
You can
help us break through that ceiling. Your donations will go towards getting us a complete PSS set. This will allow us to practice and host tournaments with electronic scoring, which will go a long way towards keeping our club competitive. The set includes the protective electronic chestguard, radio transmitters and receivers, and the software to run the ring.
