Support Longhorn Wrestling!

Thank you for choosing to learn more about the University of Texas at Austin’s Wrestling Team! Longhorn Wrestling is a co-ed, student-run sports team on the Forty Acres that focuses on leadership, discipline, and perseverance. We train wrestlers of all skills levels by practicing for two hours Monday through Thursday each week. Our season starts in October and we compete in National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) tournaments until March. The NCWA National Championships are hosted in Allen, TX at the beginning of March each year.

“Once you’ve wrestled, everything in life is easy.” –Dan Gable

Wrestling is a sport that is tough on the body and mind. You step out onto the mat alone, and everything that happens during the match is on you. It requires a large amount of mental toughness which can be translated to experiences off the mat as well. By supporting our team, you are helping Longhorns learn to be stronger individuals, better students, and more confident leaders. We work hard each day to become better, but we need your help to be the best!

NCWA National Championships March 2018

Tony Vo (125 lbs.), Luci Schement (116 lbs.), and Ryo Onoue (141 lbs.) (pictured left) qualified for nationals after placing at the Southwest Conference Championships. Luci Schement (pictured right) took second place in the 116 lbs weight class and was Longhorn Wrestling's first female All-American! Follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with the Longhorn Wrestlers! FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES

Listed below are a few areas where your donation will be allocated!

Clean Practice Area

The health and well-being of our Longhorns are our highest priority. In order to keep our wrestlers healthy, we must purchase cleaning products and equipment to clean the mats for each practice. These products may seem small at first, but they can add up over the course of a year. Your donation will go towards purchasing mat cleaner, towels, moping equipment, and keeping our wrestlers healthy!

Tournaments Outside of Texas

With the exception of one tournament, all of our competitions during the season are in Texas. Traveling to nearby states such as Oklahoma and Louisiana will help us gain experience by exposing us to a wide variety of wrestlers. Help us raise money to be able to travel a little bit further during the season and allow us to experience new competition!

Recruit New Members

We are one of the smaller sports teams on campus, and we want to change that by recruiting more members! We plan to do this by having more social events such as team dinners. We also would like to purchase new gear (t-shirts and sweatshirts) to help us advertise and spread the word about wrestling on campus. You can help continue the Longhorn Wrestling legacy!
