Success!

WOW! Team India is so excited to announce that we have reached our goal of $15,000 with time to spare! HornRaiser will continue to accept donations until Thursday, December 6th at 9 AM. Let's push it a bit further to ensure that we can do the best project possible!

From all of our team, very sincere thanks for believing in us and our project in Sirupinayur. Every single donation, message, and share pushed our fundraiser towards the goal. We won't let you down!

Now that our first leg of fundraising is wrapping up, our team is transitioning towards more detailed design and budgeting stages. We recently finished our Milestone Presentation, in which we detailed our project to an audience of technical and cultural experts. We received a lot of encouragement and advice to move forward with!

We've also been staying in contact with CASA, our NGO partner in India, through our weekly Skype calls. Our main contact, Poul, has been busy working with disaster relief efforts throughout Tamil Nadu. Collaborating with such a selfless and important organization is an honor for our entire team, and we can't wait to meet Poul in person (and in the same time zone)!

As we near winter break, our team is excited to see how our project continues to grow. We have put in a lot of hard work, heart, and late nights so far. We are looking forward to much more in the future. Thanks for following along with us!

Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday!

Hello, all! Our team wishes you a very happy Giving Tuesday! In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, we'd like to announce that we have reached $10K in donations! This is truly incredible, and we are so grateful that you could be a part of it! Thank you!

We want to keep our momentum going all day long! Here's how you can help:

1. If you haven't already, please donate today! Each and every contribution brings us closer to our goal of building a learning center in Sirupinayur.

2. Tell your friends and family about us! Anything you can do to get the word out is extremely helpful. By sharing our HornRaiser page on your Facebook or LinkedIn, you expand our visibility and help to make this project possible.

3. Check if your company matches donations! When you donate to our campaign, your receipt email contains a link to check whether your company matches. If they do, simply click to report your donation, and UT will take care of the rest. You could double or triple your donation!

For our team, this week is all about fundraising! We've been busy selling samosas on campus, planning a Power Hour to call donors personally, emailing our supporters, and getting ready for several other opportunities. We've committed to raising $15,000 for this project. Help us get there!

As always, we encourage you to connect with our team through Facebook, our website, and email! Thank you for your support, and Happy #GivingTuesday!

What Are We Up To?

What Are We Up To?

Hello, friends! Team India is back with another update! First and foremost, thank you to our wonderful supporters. Your donations, your likes, your shares have all contributed to the success of this project. We are halfway to our fundraising goal! Remember, we only have until December 6th to reach our goal. Please make your tax-deductible donation today, and send our HornRaiser page to your friends!

So, what has Team India been up to? Outside of studying for our engineering midterms and keeping up with student organizations, our team has been hard at work collaborating with our Indian non-profit partner, CASA. We’re establishing a budget and determining the dimensions and features of the learning center. Through weekly Skype calls, we’ve been able to talk face-to-face with village leaders in Sirupinayur. We’ve discussed several purposes that the learning center might also serve: disaster relief shelter, sanitation station, community center, and more. It’s been very exciting to find out just how influential this project could be for the people of Sirupinayur.

We’ve also been investing time in raising awareness for our project. We hope you’ve seen our Spotlight videos on Facebook. Each interview-style video (released throughout the month of November) focuses on a different member of Team India. All seven of us have different roles, personalities, and goals for this project, and we’d like to share a bit more of ourselves with all of you! Make sure to like our Facebook page so that you don’t miss these videos!

Recently, we fundraised outside of a UT football game! We raised over $200 in one evening, and we even met UT Austin’s very own President Fenves! President Fenves is a civil engineer himself, and we really enjoyed meeting him and discussing our work.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments by emailing pucindia2019@gmail.com. Thank you for following our journey! From all of Team India, we wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.
