The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) is to provide opportunities for all members of the UT Austin community to explore, organize, and promote learning around issues of gender and sexuality. Throughout the 15 years the GSC has been on campus we have provided resources, support, and community to thousands of women and LGBTQIA+ students here at UT. Although we provide many services, such as a food bank stocked with healthy foods on the go, it still isn’t enough to help students in times of financial crisis.
This is why we’ve decided to create the GSC Crisis Fund. This fund is for the gay student who is outed to his parents and all of a sudden is cut off completely, the trans student who has no means to access medical care or the money to change their name on their diploma so it matches the name on their research and resumes, the woman who is struggling to access long term mental health treatment once her sessions at the Counseling and Mental Health Center have run out, and countless other examples of times students have needed a little extra help. With your support, you would be directly contributing to student success, ensuring that all Longhorns thrive and not just survive at UT.
If additional funds are raised, they will go directly into the GSC Endowment Account, where the interest will fund the GSC Crisis Fund for years to come.
