Hi there. We could use your help!
Nourishment and Narratives with Neighbors is an organization founded by pre-medical students through the Health Leadership Apprentice Program at Dell Medical School. Our project is a monthly event that takes place at Community First! Village, a micro-home community in Austin that houses nearly 200 formerly homeless residents— our neighbors.
Each event we host consists of both a nourishment and narrative component. The nourishment comes from the chicken Parmesan, spaghetti, and salad dinner we prepare and serve to the community.
The narrative portion of our project is just what it sounds like— people sharing their stories! We ask one neighbor from Community First! and one member of the healthcare field to share a story about their lives or an adversity they have overcome. Our goal is that through storytelling, and through the accepting atmosphere that is created, we may reduce the stigma associated with the formerly homeless population.
We are firm believers that one conversation can change the lives of those who hear it. Whether it is about loss, fortune, or anything in between, a person’s story is impactful. By facilitating these conversations at our monthly dinner events, we have the potential to touch the lives of everyone involved!
Everyone loves a good meal, and everyone could benefit from a good story!
Please consider donating to the efforts of Nourishment and Narratives with Neighbors. With your help, we can host many more of these powerful events!
This level of support will fund our entire project for the whole year!
