Dr. David Laude founded UTeach Outreach, College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin in 1993, UTeach Outreach has historically focused on training UT students to mentor in local elementary schools and is now the largest outreach program at the university. UT PREP provides dozens of summer jobs and training for talented UT students with a passion for changing the world one future scientist, engineer and mathematician at a time.
Four years ago, UTeach Outreach began the UT PREP summer camps to provide quality STEM education to high achieving students in the Austin area. Our curriculum is designed to build skills and knowledge each summer for four consecutive summers leading to advanced high school coursework and opportunities.
Our six-week PREP 1-4 summer camps cover computer science, engineering, physics, technical writing, and subjects in advanced mathematics and statistics. Students may receive TEA-approved high school credit for each summer and be well equipped for Advanced Placement and college coursework.
We are thrilled to bring our experience and expertise to bear on the urgent problem of economic disparity in in education. 81% of the kids attending UT PREP camps are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and 61% are on track to be the first generation in their family to attended college. PREP camps also foster friendships and support networks among students, who get to know each other through daily sports like swimming and racquetball, research lab tours and service opportunities.
We at UTeach Outreach are passionate about education equality. We think that children should be able to reach their potential regardless of economic status. Let’s spark the curiosity of the next Edison, Sagan or Gates - no matter what background they come from. We need your support to provide these opportunities. Four years ago, we began with only a handful of students. In 2015, we admitted 50 to our camps. We are prepared to admit 300 students in the summer of 2016 with plans to expand with your support to over 1,000 students entering this amazing UT PREP STEM Pipeline in the summer of 2018.

This level will combine with our current funding to provide two scholarships for local Austin area students to attend camp. In addition to the above you will be invited to attend a UT PREP program class and will be recognized at the end of camp celebration.
Contribute to the overall program which includes funding for summer employment for UT students and scholarships for youth. As a Program Sponsor you may choose to have your name or company added to our UT PREP website, graduation program and annual report in addition to the above items.
