Annual Medical Education Conference for BHPO

Our members need YOUR help to make it to Cleveland this Spring!

On April 8 - 12, 2020, the SNMA Annual Medical Education Conference (AMEC) will be held all the way in Cleveland, Ohio. AMEC 2020 will consist of interactive workshops and sessions that will not only prepare premed and medical students in their journey to become influential physicians of tomorrow, but will also provide the opportunity to network with students and physicians from all over the country. There will be dynamic speakers and panels that will provide valuable insight into academic success, professional development, community engagement, and research. Attendees will be inspired to lead, serve, and advocate to improve the future of medicine. Per SNMA’s national & regional constitutions, SNMA members are encouraged to attend the Annual Conference as it is the organization's largest business meeting.

What is SNMA Anyway?

Established in 1964 by medical students at Howard University College of Medicine and Meharry Medical School, the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is the nation’s oldest and largest, independent student organization committed to the needs and concerns of medical students of color.  SNMA’s strength has been in our commitment to serving others and today, the SNMA includes over 8,000 medical students, premedical students, residents, and physicians among its membership. The SNMA’s community service and mentoring programs provide science appreciation, health care education, mentoring, and academic enrichment to elementary, junior high school, high school and college students interested in pursuing health-related careers. As an organization, it is our mission to increase the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious physicians

Our region, Region III of the SNMA encompasses the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Colorado, and New Mexico. We are one of the largest and fastest growing regions in the country! This means we will be sending as many members as we can to this fantastic networking opportunity! Our goals are high but as full-time and part-time students, the travel fees are mostly too expensive for our members.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THEM THERE!

Our Mission: The purpose of the Black Health Professions Organization is to foster an environment that supports minority undergraduates in their efforts to enter into a healthcare related professional school. BHPO works to connect students with resources including networking, shadowing, volunteering, and test prep. Though we are not a social organization, members benefit from a close-knit group that uplifts one another beyond professional development and engages with the local community to improve health outcomes.

We greatly appreciate your donation; it will help send our pre-health hopefuls to the career path of their choice!

Best,
