Thanks so much to everyone that has contributed so far! I want to extend a special "Thank You" to Jenifer Flaxbart, Assistant Director of Research Support & Digital Initiatives at UT Libraries, who matched the first 25 donations of $25.00. What a generous way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the PCL Map Collection website!
We have another match of $2,500! Please help us get the word out by sharing the Mapping the Future HornRaiser campaign (https://hornraiser.utexas.edu/pclmaps25) today! Better yet, become an Ambassador!
FUN FACT: The UT Libraries used to refer to the website as the UT Library Online, UTLOL for short! Of course, that was long before LOL was shorthand for Laugh Out Loud, but it still makes me quietly chuckle. This snapshot of the PCL Map Collection from June 2001 is not only a cool snapshot of web design of the time, but the Online Maps of Special Interest indicate what was going on in the world.
Thank you so much for helping Mapping the Future get off to a great start!
Katherine
Help celebrate the 25th Anniversary of PCL Maps digital collection. The first 25 donations are matched!
There are many maps in the physical collection that still need to be digitized. For $83.00, you can fund the preparation, scanning, postprocessing, and vaulting of 10 maps!
The PCL Map webpage is one of the highest used webpages on our website, averaging over 593 hits per hour! Be a part of making these accessible through the UT Libraries' Collections Portal, so users can download high-resolution images and citations while ensuring they are preserved for future generations!
Contribute to the UT Libraries Map & Geospatial Collections Explorer Award, where we recognize exemplary projects that make use of maps and geospatial data from resources like the PCL Map Collection.
Make the year 2020 our best yet and celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the PCL Map digital collection and the Texas GeoData portal's launch!
