Intro:
¡Hola a todos! We are the Projects with Underserved Communities (PUC) Team Mexico! We are five engineering and social work students, planning, designing, and implementing an engineering project in partnership with the Santiago Suchilquitongo community in Oaxaca, Mexico. This experience will allow us to utilize our engineering knowledge in collaboration with a global community while gaining important technical and cross-cultural skills.
The project:
It is a pleasure to say that this is the fourth year that Projects with Underserved Communities works with the Xuchil team. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue this partnership and further improve the mesquite flour production process. For the past three years, PUC teams have worked to hone the during process and increase production. This year's team will continue last year's project by updating the design of the mechanism that will be used to rinse and dry the mesquite pods more efficiently making it and implementing it. In addition to this project, we are considering adding smaller side projects that will aid the mesquite production process. Some of these projects include a pulley that will help transport the mesquite pods to a higher location, pest control, a permanent storage area for the mesquite, etc.
Please help us by making a donation.
The PUC program has done projects in 9 countries over 3 continents.
There are 1198 miles between UT Austin and Santiago Suchilquitongo.
