Mission
We are the Texas Exes Black Alumni Network and our mission is to identify, inform and involve Black alumni in all aspects of the Texas Exes and the Black Alumni Network. In addition, we want to increase the presence of Black matriculants by helping the University recruit and retain the best, the brightest, and most deserving Black students from around the state and nation. Our final goal is to connect the universe of Black alumni, Black students and UT's black faculty, with individuals and corporations whose passion for higher education and diversity on the UT campus compels them to action, through Black alumni networking and scholarship initiatives.

Impact
Because the Legacy Scholarship is a distribution from monies provided by Black alumni, it will be, by definition, the highest and most coveted honor that a Black student at the University of Texas at Austin can attain. The Legacies, recognizing the promise and merit in a Black student's petition to become a Texas Longhorn, are conferring upon you a scholarship that is rooted in every Black soul who preceded you at the University of Texas.
A primary goal of Black Alumni Network includes increasing Black student enrollment and matriculations at the University of Texas. Your gift supports those efforts.
The average cost of attendance for a student at the University of Texas at Austin is $10,582 - $13,260. Your gift will help to offset these costs and make it possible for a student to select UT.
In 2020, Black student enrollment for undergraduate students was 5.5%. African Americans comprise 12.3% of the state of Texas population. Your gift supports the network's effort to increased funding scholarships for Black students to increase enrollment that mirrors the state population.
Black students with limited financial resources will select the university that provides early funding decisions. Your gift will support Black Alumni Network to establish endowments to make those early funding decisions and ensure the best and brightest black student on track to enroll at University of Texas at Austin.
