In order to help our structures team we are setting a new stretch goal of $3000 total!
Primarily, the money will go towards buying hard plastic siding for our walls which will let us paint and mount decorations to the wall. This is something we cannot do with our current budget and the shower curtain like plastic we have right now.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Texas Theme Park Engineering Group (TxTPEG) haunted house serves as an incubator for UT students of all disciplines (art, engineering, and beyond) to create meaningful portfolio pieces. The final collaborative project not only provides students with pieces that can further their potential for employment, but also serves as an entertaining haunted house to delight members of UT Austin!
Since 2017, the Texas Theme Park Engineering Group has put on an annual “House of Horrors”. Portfolio pieces are vital to getting hired within the themed entertainment industry, and the haunted house was dreamed up as a way to get TxTPEG members experience writing storylines, creating set pieces, developing innovative special effects, and designing imaginative costumes, all of which could be photographed and documented for students’ portfolios. The best part? The final product was not only something that served to help the students, but also entertained the UT community allowing members to visit a spooky and fun haunted house.
The COVID-19 pandemic proved a roadblock to the typical haunted house project, as health and safety concerns led us to cancel the annual haunted house. However, this gave us the chance to re-evaluate how we had conducted the haunted house. We spent the year developing more complicated, higher quality plans to implement. These complicated plans will give us the ability to include more students in the building of our haunted house, including other engineers, studio art students, performing arts students, and beyond. It will also allow us to create a more professional, polished project that provides a more immersive experience for guests!
Expanding our project in this manner requires more funds as we not only have to update our current haunt infrastructure, but also have to build larger, more elaborate sets and costumes. We are seeking $2000 in order to expand our vision to create a higher quality, larger scale haunted house project that involves more UT students.

Texas Theme Park Engineering Group is focused on introducing students to the field of theme park entertainment and engaging them in activities which involve fun, hands-on educational experiences. Our goal is to help passionate students explore options within the themed entertainment industry and discover atypical career options within their degrees.

$15 provides us with the supplies to make one mask for an actor in our haunted house! With a donation of this level, you receive free entry to our haunted house! You will also have your name displayed on a "donor thank you" poster at the exit of our haunted house!
$30 allows us to buy one theatre flat, the material from which we make the walls of our haunt! With a donation of $30, you receive all the benefits of the "Fearful Fifteen" plus a high quality, well produced and edited video walkthrough of the haunt, allowing those who cannot attend the haunt in person to view the haunt, as well as those who do attend the haunt to always be able to revisit the fun and frightful scenes they saw!
$50 is enough to purchase and decorate a piece of shelving to provide immersive theming for a room of our haunt. A donation at this level gives you all the benefits of "threatening thirty," along with exclusive, behind the scenes videos providing you a window into our build and design process!
$75 provides us enough money to paint half of our haunted house building! At this level, you receive all the benefits of the "frightful fifty" along with a special "skip the line" pass! Our haunted house has had up to half hour lines in the past, and this pass allows you and your party (max 10 people) to skip the line and experience the haunt without the wait!
A hundred dollars is enough to purchase three sound systems for the haunted house. We will give you early access to our haunted house!
Five hundred dollars is enough for us to create monstrous special effects for every room. We will add a your name and a picture as an Easter egg in our haunted house.
This level of support will help us completely design and furnish the finale rooms for the haunt. We will design you a personalized monster or specimen that we will place within the haunted house!
