Our Crowdfunding Groups
In 2020, a UT survey found that 42% of students experienced severe food insecurity. In other words, they did not have regular access to food. COVID-19 continued to exacerbate food insecurity for college students, especially marginalized college students.
We will raise $10,000 to support a pilot that will examine the impact of expanding the La Tiendita food pantry to include the provision of fresh produce. La Tiendita is a grassroots food pantry housed in Latino and Black Studies. The pilot project will recruit students to receive produce boxes and a cooking utensils box. We will assess our program's impact on food access and diet quality. This project will also provide an opportunity to address any logistical challenges related to food pantry expansion (e.g., space and staffing).
We’re asking for your support to raise $10,000 to provide fresh produce and cooking supplies for students in Latino and Black Studies! When students do not have to worry about food, they can focus on their studies and personal development. This project benefits UT by directly supporting students!
We will perform random acts of kindness around campus and the Austin community (e.g., post positive social media posts, give compliments and praises, letting someone skip you in line). 1 act per $25.
Provide a cooking utensil box including wooden spoons, can opener, and other cooking fun.
Provide fresh produce for one student for the entire semester!
