As we enjoy family and friends during this season of giving, we want to say thank you to all who have given to our campaign so far. With just 14 days remaining in the compaign, we have raised nearly $7,200 and need just $2,828 to reach our goal!
This is an exciting time for the Nexushaus team - both in Austin and Munich - as we have started winter break and reached a milestone for the project. Just yesterday, the team submitted a draft animated walkthrough of Nexushaus to the United States Department of Energy Solar Decathlon competition. We're excited to share this video with you and hope that you will share it with your friends and family via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media. We also encourage you to use the hashtag, #nexushaus, when sharing the project.
As we continue to design and build Nexushaus during the next 10 months, we look forward to sharing more videos and images that showcase the advancement of sustainable, solar-powered living with you. For more information about the team, our approach to solar-powered living, and to stay up-to-date with our progress, you can also check our website: www.nexushaus.com.
Thanks again for your thoughts and support, and if you are considering supporting the Nexushaus team financially, please keep in mind that any donation made before the end of the year is tax deductible in 2014.
Yours, under the sun,
UT + TUM Students
Our team is so excited to be wrapping up our campaign on Hornraiser, which closes at 11:59 p.m. CST tonight, January 2, 2015.
We're absolutely honored to have met and exceeded our oriignal $10,000 goal, and we've officially received a $10,000 match from a generous donor. We definitely want to keep this positive momentum going. Gifts of all sizes will help us as we prepare to compete in Irvine in October 2015. There's just a few hours left--so if you know anyone who would like to make a donation, but hasn't done so yet, please share the link to our project with them! www.utexas.edu/go/nexushaus
It’s an exciting time for us, and we really appreciate our community coming together to support this great cause. Thank you for being a part of our successful initiative.
Yours, under the sun,
UT + TUM Students
Thank you all for your support and generosity. Because of your help, NexusHaus was able to raise more than $21,000 to support our entry in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon.
As initially stated in our ask, $10,000 of the money raised will be used to fund the cost of filming and producing a "making-of" documentary which will document the construction and water, energy, and food technologies explored in the project. The documentary will be used during the competition as part of the Communication and Engineering competitions and will also act as a teaching tool in classrooms across Texas once the competition is complete.
The additional funds, $11,422, will be used to pay for the construction of one of the two chassis which serve as the foundations for the living and sleeping units. These chassis will also provide the main source of transportation for the units as they traverse roughly 2,800 miles to and from the competition site in Irvine, California.
Thanks again for all of your help during this campaign! Please be sure to follow NexusHaus' progress on our blog and website at www.nexushaus.com.
