Sweatt Center
The Sweatt Center for Black Males are raising money to further the impact we are having on the development of Black males on the 40-acres. The funds raised will assist in expanding the opportunities and resources we are able to bring towards the young men, as well as the opportunities and resources we are able to bring the young men to.
Who We Are
As a holistic development program for Black males at UT Austin, the Sweatt Center seeks to create access, exposure, and opportunities for the young men to expand and enlarge their academic, personal, and professional identities. Through an array of initiatives, as well as organic relationships, the young men are challenged and pushed to reimagine themselves and their futures. Creating a sense of belonging, increases self-esteem and self-efficacy, fostering greater emotional intelligence, and empowering their narrative are just a few areas of impact.
How You Can Help
We are kindly asking that you make a donation that will go directly to improving and enhancing the collegiate and developmental experience of a Sweatt student and to share this opportunity through out YOUR network. We have a goal of $6,000, but are hoping we can go beyond that. Every dollar makes a difference in a student's development. Your contributions are tax-deductible.
This level of donation will support a Sweatt mentor/mentee pairing to further develop relationship through lunch meeting or an activity based experience to fellowship.
This level of donation will help a student engage with a local experience for development and/or volunteer service. Transportation, food, and materials would be covered for the project for that student.
This level of donation will help sponsor one Sweatt student to attend the 3-day Collegiate Black Male Retreat. The student's food, lodging, transportation, retreat shirt, and activities will be covered for the student.
This level of donation will help sponsor a weekly PowerHour (food, speaker, activity) for 65 Sweatt students. Through these weekly sessions, young men are provided holistic development.
This level of donation will cover a Sweatt student to experience the Wall Street Exposure Experience or the Capitol Hill Exposure Experience. The student will get transportation, lodging, access to companies/organizations, a cultural experience, and a group dinner.
This level of donation will help sponsor a Sweatt student to gain international experience and exposure through a study abroad opportunity.
