Our Crowdfunding Groups
After a very successful #GivingTuesday, we're 2/3 of the way towards our goal of funding our 2017 TAURUS Scholars program! Thank you for all of the support you have given us over the past month from all over the world; it is very much appreciated! We still have two weeks left in our campaign, so we encourage you to continue to share your donations to TAURUS on social media and encourage others to donate to help us make our goal. Once there, we'll do our part to help highly successful students from under-represented backgrounds succeed in astrophysics, hopefully for many years to come. Thank you for your gifts!

We'll be there to celebrate the second anniversary of AoT ATX, make a big push with our campaign, and hear three stellar talks from UT Austin astronomers!
Thank you all *so much* for the kind donations that got us started in our first week! We're really excited to be running this campaign and getting the word out about our program and its aims. As many of us know, it's easy to talk about improving the workplace for all young students and researchers, but stereotypes in STEM run deep and combatting them requires grassroots *action.* For those of you in Austin, I hope you can make it out to the 2 year anniversary of Astronomy on Tap ATX at the North Door, 7pm on November 15th! The TAURUS team extends a giant thank you to the first eight donors for getting this campaign off the ground in its first day! With just over $500, we're thrilled to start off on such a high note while building the support the 2017 TAURUS Scholars Program. Your contributions will form an important part of their summer experience that is sure to shape their career aspirations and give them a home in astronomical research.

Pitch in $10 to get the TAURUS Scholars on their way. A small boost can still go a long way!
Help the TAURUS scholars with computer supplies. Contribute $50 to get them an external hard drive so they'll be able to take all their data and research with them on the go and when they leave.
A day at AAS! In the January following their summer research experience, TAURUS Scholars present their work at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS). Help TAURUS Scholars network with astronomy graduate programs and other students by covering a day's worth of their expenses at the meeting. With this level of donation, get a shout out on our twitter feed!
Scholar Housing for a Week - You can fund a TAURUS Scholar's housing on the campus of UT Austin for one week of their summer experience. Scholars live in the San Jacinto Residence Hall, which is centrally located on campus, and allows them to interact with other summer research students from other UT-based programs. At this level of donation get a personal thank you on our blog and a shoutout on twitter!
Trip to McDonald Observatory - Send one TAURUS Scholar on the trip of a lifetime to observe and operate the telescopes at McDonald Observatory, one of the top research centers for observational astronomy in the country. Scholars spend four nights at the helm of the telescopes, deciding what to observe that is in line with their research projects. McDonald Observatory is also one of the darkest sky locations in the continental US, giving Scholars one of the best views of the night sky they will remember forever. With this donation level receive an electronic picture of the TAURUS group at McDonald Observatory, a personal thank you on our blog, and a twitter shout out.
