Who are we?

Texas Judo is a co-ed judo club at the University of Texas. We are open to all skill levels and strive to better ourselves mentally and physically as individuals through the art of Judo. We practice Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm and Sunday from 4:00-6:00 in the Rec Sports center. We all share a passion for this ancient sport and love to see it thrive and to see our members succeed in it!

Our cause

We are one of the smaller sports organizations on campus with around 20 active members and 4 coaches, with about 2 coaches running each practice. We are non-profit and are run entirely by students and our dues are only $40 for each semester which allows us to send our members to some of the smaller judo tournaments around Texas. For these tournaments, entry fees are usually around $40 and often only take one day for us to travel, compete, and come home. Entry fees for the Dallas Invitational though are between $55 and $100 and weigh ins are the night before, which means we will cover hotel costs and meals for all of our competing members. We expect at least 10 members to compete so these expenses will add up quickly. 

With your help, we aim to send our team to this international tournament so we can show the world what UT has to offer! Our goal of $1000 will make it possible for us to send over half of our team to Dallas so that newer members can experience what a large tournament is like, more experienced members can refine their skills through competition, and so all of our members can bring some medals home to Austin! We appreciate every single donation that puts us even 1$ closer to our goal! Without you we wouldn't even be able to dream about sending our team to a tournament this big!
