Who We Are
Longhorn Racing is the collegiate chapter of SAE International at UT Austin, where each of our three teams design, build, and a race a formula-style race car each year to compete in some of the largest international design competitions in the world with over 80 universities. Longhorn Racing provides students with invaluable opportunities of hands-on experience, as well as a chance to build professional skills and relationships for future careers in engineering.
What We’re Fundraising For
Your support will help build this enriching program to be the best it can possibly be. With your help, members of Longhorn Racing will be able to turn the designs they’ve worked so hard on into reality. Members on each of our three teams— combustion vehicle, electric vehicle, and solar vehicle-- work tirelessly to design and manufacture entire vehicles from the ground up, building over 80% of each car in our on-campus machine shops. However, this feat is only possible through the donations we receive. This year, we are challenging Chevron alumni to match the $50,000 from Chevron Corporation contributing directly to a new truck and trailer for transporting our teams to competition and building our three 2023 vehicles for Formula SAE and Formula Sun Grand Prix this summer.
Your Impact
Your generosity gives our teams the opportunity to build high quality vehicles in a constructive environment. Any gift goes directly to the support and manufacturing of our cars, in the form of quality materials and state-of-the-art tools. This helps our teams to not only make exceptional cars, but also to build skilled and experienced engineers.
Additionally, Longhorn Racing is proud to be active in our many outreach programs, including the Formula 1 US Grand Prix, Girl Day at UT, ExploreUT, and AWIM. Connecting with kids and their families through our passion of engineering is something we feel lucky to participate in, which is why we hope to continue to provide high quality and fun activities for participants with your generous donations.
