Hello Everyone,
First and foremost, Projects with Underserved Communities (PUC) Team India would like to thank everyone who has donated to our project. With your support, we are halfway towards our goal of $15,000! Your donation will aid us in implementing a multipurpose community center in the village of Adukkam! It is not too late to contribute to our project if you have not done so yet. Please use the following link to make a donation and learn more about us:https://hornraiser.utexas.edu/pucindia23.
Our team is excited to announce the launch of our website! We will share personal stories about our journey throughout the year and continuously update details on our project during and after implementation: https://pucindia2023.wixsite.com/teamindia. We are also ecstatic at being featured in The Daily Texan! If you would like to learn more about PUC and hear from our team members as to why they decided to be a part of this unique project, please use the following link: https://thedailytexan.com/2022/11/17/engineering-social-work-students-fundraise-for-construction-projects-in-india-costa-rica/.
We have been working endlessly with India’s local NGO, Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) to finalize our floor plan for the community center. After conversing with CASA’S program coordinator for the site location, we have learned the community is receiving the project well. The village of Addukam lacks proper access to educational centers, with the closest being 21 km away; therefore, the community supports implementing the project since it will provide direct access to their needs. We have also been working alongside community leaders to develop a comprehensive plan on how to maintain and use the community center properly. This plan will include an agreement between CASA and the community to ensure routine maintenance is being completed on the building, thus, guaranteeing its whole service life.
Thank you again for your donation and consideration. We are happy to have your support! “Together, we can change the world one project at a time.”
