Help send UT Dance students to the 2023 American College Dance Association Regional Conference

The UT Austin Dance Area is home to over 100 dance majors who believe in the importance of being a strong ARTIST CITIZEN. In addition to their rigorous training in many dance forms, they cultivate their personal definition of what it means to be an ambassador of dance and contribute to a healthy, welcoming community. Attending the American College Dance Association (ACDA) Conference is the perfect place for them to practice both, and we need your help to send our delegation of 15 UT dancers!

ACDA (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year)  is a prestigious national organization that supports and promotes the wealth of talent and creativity that is prominent throughout college and university dance departments. Regional Conferences include four days of dozens of classes and workshops where students can learn from one another. ACDA also provides the unique opportunity for students and faculty to have their choreography adjudicated by a panel of nationally recognized dance professionals in an open and constructive forum. The conferences are the primary means for college and university dance programs to perform outside their own academic setting and to gain exposure to the diversity of college dance throughout the United States. UT student and faculty work have regularly been selected for the conference's culminating Gala Concert as well as the National Conference presented at the Kenedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

This year, the Department of Theatre and Dance will send 15 students to perform and exhibit their choreography at the festival and connect with students from across the country. This is a vital part of our curriculum and an important opportunity for professional development and networking. It is also one of the primary ways our students practice artist citizenship!

Your donations will directly support our UT student dance-artists by covering ACDA Registration fees, travel and hotel expenses, meals, and ACDA adjudication fees for student choreography.

ACDA is an incredible opportunity for student dance-artists and educators to teach, learn, and network with dance professionals and colleagues at peer universities. Please donate to support our students on their journey to become artist-citizens, advocates, and activists in their communities!
