We are looking to raise funds in order to compete at regional and national tournaments under the American Moot Court Association. The funds will go towards tournament registration fees, transportation and accommodations. We aim to provide tournament access to members in our organization without paying out-of-pocket costs. These scholarly competitions offer students a chance to expand their knowledge on constitutional law as well as build lifelong skills in communication and debate. We hope you can help us pursue our journey of knowledge.
Moot Court is a team-based academic competition that tests students' knowledge on constitutional law. Each year, a hypothetical case problem is released with two constitutional issues at play. Students spend countless hours briefing cases and formulating arguments for both sides, petitioner and respondent, in hopes of qualifying and preforming well at the national tournament.
We started our team in 2019 when Shelby Hobohm, along with Sarah Blakemore, took initiative and created the organization. Since the creation of the team, we now have 20+ active members in our organization, many of which who wish to compete at regional and national tournaments. Although our organization has very limited resources compared to other schools, such as the University of Chicago and UC Berkeley, we have recently accomplished significant achievements that have put UT Moot Court on the map. Most notably, we had a team qualify for the national tournament last semester, something that has not been done in the University of Texas since the start of the team.
