Help the UT Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) raise funds to sponsor its members in this year's RLDC! This is a conference in which our members can develop their professional and leadership skills, as well as connect and network with recruiters from different companies.
About SHPE
Founded in 1974, SHPE is a National organization trying to increase the exposure and support of Hispanics in engineering. Along the way focusing on their clear mission, vision, and core values of Familia, service, education, and resilience.
About Our Chapter
Established in 1982, our University of Texas at Austin SHPE chapter has been providing opportunities for its members for 40+ years. With over 500 active members, we’ve fostered a strong community through mentorship and support. As a chapter, we are known for our passion and strive to help our members become well-rounded professionals via our 6 pillars:
All while helping them navigate the realities and expectations that come with being a minority engineering student at a top-ranking university.
About RLDC
SHPE membership is broken up into 7 geographical regions. SHPE’s Regional Leadership Development Conferences (RLDCs) bring national knowledge and expertise to accessible, local learning events for members no matter where in the country they are.
These gatherings are more intimate than the National Convention, but they still bring in top industry innovators for workshops, keynotes, and interviews. The networking is top-notch and the regional content is unmatched. And it’s all happening in our backyard.
About Supporting
As a Region 5 chapter, UT-SHPE will be attending the RLDC Region 5 and Region 3 that will be taking place March 14th-16th, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. Visit this site for more information!
UT-SHPE seeks to provide members who attend with financial assistance to facilitate their travel. It is estimated that the registration fee per attendee will be $125. Additionally, lodging close to the conference location will be $150 per person. This brings the total cost to approximately $300 for a member to attend fully covered.
Meeting the goal of $9000 will allow the chapter to send 30 members with full stipends. Intending to empower the Hispanic engineering community within UT Austin, the chapter asks that you support our efforts with a monetary contribution.
UT-SHPE is an organization that recognizes the impact of community and acknowledges how far support can take you. We greatly appreciate any contribution that YOU as our extended community can provide.
