Who Are We?
HLA is Dell Medical School's undergraduate experiential learning program. Our mission is to prepare future health leaders with skills to achieve our vision of a vital, inclusive health ecosystem.
We accomplish our mission by organizing health leadership development opportunities including projects that improve health and health care in Texas.
How will your contribution help?
Our goal is to raise $15,000 to support three major initiatives!
1) Community-Based Research Projects
HLA members collaborate with and receive mentorship from UT faculty, staff, and community partners on developing effective public health interventions driven by community priorities. Most projects span at least one school year.
Donations allow us to compensate community members for being a part of our research projects.
Example: providing $50 H-E-B gift cards to community members participating in focus groups, surveys, or interviews.
Featured Project: From Stigma to Solution: Navigating HPV Vaccination Barriers
2) Leadership Development
HLA members participate in various health leadership development events every semester.
Donations allow us to hold high-impact trainings, team building, and community service opportunities.
Example: providing food at game nights hosted in collaboration with our partners at Community First! Village, home to more than 350 formerly homeless neighbors in Travis County.
Featured Event: Health Systems Thinking Workshops by Arotin Hartounian, Senior Service Designer at Ascension
3) Student Care
HLA members each have a volunteer leadership role dedicated to operating a successful and sustainable program.
Donations allow us to provide students with incentives for their year-round efforts.
Example: providing stipends or scholarships to every HLA student.
Featured Leaders: HLA President, Directors, and Chairs
