Situational Training Exercise (STX)

Situational Training Exercises (STX) utilize a progressive crawl-walk-run methodology. These are multi-hour to full-day events that contain multiple collective tasks. This may include land fitness, water events, and academics as well as scenario-based tasks that require intensive planning to execute. We will be planning to execute our full-day STX in Spring 2025. Our HornRaiser aims to raise the funds required to purchase the equipment to seriously train and prepare our members for the gauntlet of an entire day of evaluated performance. We perform multiple land and water trainings a week as well as weekly academic and field lessons. Help us fund this critical phase of development for our cadets.

A 3-hour crawl phase STX will be performed this semester with no funding to understand better what planning and equipment will be required in the future. This will consist of a 3 stage event with land navigation, tactical combat casualty care, and small unit tactics. All of this while under the watchful eye of oppositional forces with paintball guns ready to test how our members react to contact.

Preparing our members for a full day of execution will require access to land and resources we cannot get on our own. As a small section of the Air Force Detachment here at UT Austin, we hope to extend our larger STXs to other detachments in Texas. Through donations and working with other local groups we hope to train and prepare a swath of members for the rigors of Special Warfare. Our members have already participated in two such events held at local Texas schools and down at Joint Base San Antonio with multiple days of physical training and learning about Special Warfare. We aim to get the equipment, training, and practice required to host our own STX and test what our members are made of.

We hope that your generous donations will allow us to equip our members with all the tools required to develop into fierce leaders not afraid to lead boldly from the front.
