Thank you to everyone who supported LRA's Spaceport competition rocket this year! Your donation goes a long way in ensuring our club has the funds it needs to compete at the international level and represent UT on the world stage. You are supporting Longhorns and future engineers by investing in their learning, so we sincerely thank you for all your support!

Triton (Longhorn Rocketry Association)

We are the Longhorn Rocketry Association, UT’s experimental student rocketry organization dedicated to allowing rocketry enthusiasts to design, build, and launch high powered rockets. Under the department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, we are pursuing a range of research areas to gain a better understanding of rocket science.

Each year, LRA competes in the Spaceport America Cup, an international rocketry competition held at Spaceport America, NM. Teams are challenged to launch a 8.8 lb payload to either 10,000 ft or 30,000 ft on a motor of their choice. The teams that get the closest to their goal - and carry the most novel payloads - win the competition. This year, LRA is building Triton, a 5 in diameter, 10.5 ft tall rocket designed to carry an 8.8 lb payload to 30,000 ft on a commercial motor. This comes with massive funding challenges, particularly as solid rocket motors have gotten much more expensive in previous years. Additionally, the cost to travel and compete in the competition is very expensive as well. In total, we've determined we need to raise $7500 by the end of April to be fully present at competition.

This is where you can come in and support us. By donating to us, you are helping us compete at the highest levels of collegiate rocketry and help represent Texas Engineering to the world. Our rockets have garnered the attention of thousands of spectators at these launches and we would love to show the skills and abilities of our members once again. Furthermore, by supporting us, you are supporting Longhorn engineers that will go on to change the world. The greatest engineers in the world all started somewhere and we believe that competing in this competition is a catalyst to spark the brightest minds at UT. So we thank you for your consideration and we hope that you can support us!

$25

Launch

This will help us cover food, gas, and living expenses while in Las Cruces! Things like these are crucial to keep our rocketeers healthy while spending a week in the desert launching rockets.

$50

Orbit

This will go towards our building needs and supplies! As a token of our appreciation, we will send you a personal thank you note from our members.

$100

Interstellar

This is enough to cover the conference fee for another member to come to competition! This will allow that member the experience of a lifetime, and to show our appreciation, you will receive a shout out on our social media platforms. You will also receive all the benefits of the lower tiers as well.

$500

Intergalactic

This will help cover the cost of the airframe, which makes up the bulk of the rocket! To show our appreciation, you will receive a free tour of our lab, have the opportunity to meet some of our leads and members, and check out all our previous competition rockets. You will also receive all the benefits of the lower tiers as well.

$1,000

Universal

This is enough to cover half of the cost of the motor, which is a massive step forward for us! To show our appreciation, you will get free access to one of our launches and have your name be placed on Triton! You will also receive all the benefits of the lower tiers as well.
