Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Valerie & Kerry Taylor Endowed Scholarship in Music Education was established to support music education majors at the University of Texas at Austin who are also members of the Longhorn Band. Kerry and Valerie met as members of the Longhorn Band and Kerry holds both a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a master’s degree in Applied Conducting from UT Austin. They both believe in the power of music to change people’s lives and the importance of music education in public schools.
Kerry is retiring in May from Westlake High School after 42 years of serving as a Texas public school band director across Katy ISD and Eanes ISD. In celebration of this achievement, Valerie and Kerry, together with Julia and Michael Webber, have pledged $62,500 toward the Taylor's endowed scholarship. We are encouraging friends and colleagues, as well as members of the Westlake and Longhorn Band communities to join in matching this pledge! You can help open doors to a world-class education for future Longhorns!
