Longhorn Nursing Immersion Summer Camp

This summer, The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing will be hosting our second annual Longhorn Nursing Summer Immersion Day Camp. During this weeklong event, current high school students with an interest in the nursing profession will be introduced to the various career paths that are possible with a nursing degree.

In addition to providing an introduction to the field of nursing, and the requirements of becoming a Registered Nurse, campers will have the opportunity to learn and practice hands-on skills including: patient assessment and bedside skills, electrocardiogram (EKG) readings, giving oral and intramuscular injection (IM) medication, using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) Tutor, IV insertion, maternity simulations, newborn patient care, pediatric feeding tube insertion, and a disaster drill.

Unfortunately, many families in our community are not able to cover the cost of camp tuition ($500.00) for their student. To provide a low-to-no cost tuition option for low-income students, we are asking for your support to meet our fundraising goal of $2,500. Sponsors like you can help "Heal the World" with a small donation to further the education of a camper and future Texas Nursing student!
