Name a UT Turtle — and Get a Certificate!
The Turtle Pond at The University of Texas at Austin is a fun and favorite place for all.
You can help support the longevity and beautification of the habitat today with a generous donation and even name one of the turtles!
About the Ponds
The UT botanical ponds, as they were originally known, can be found just north of the UT Tower, and they’ve been a popular spot for students, faculty, staff, alumni and Austin residents since their construction.
The pond also helps us appreciate and protect our natural resources. The Turtle Pond is a great place for our campus and community to understand biodiversity and its impact on ecosystems.
Make the Turtle Pond a Happier Place
It is fun to give turtles a name, but they appreciate having a clean and safe habitat even more. That’s why every few years, the College of Natural Sciences Department of Integrative Biology drains and cleans the pond, and rebuilds the turtle basking areas.
Your gift today will support the longevity and beautification of the Turtle Pond — and make UT turtles the “happiest” turtles on the planet. So please give generously!
When you do, we’ll send you a digital certificate* commemorating the new name you’ve given a turtle.
Turtle Pond certificates make great gifts, so you might even want to give yours to a UT student or graduate for them to name a turtle.
Thanks for keeping UT turtles safe and healthy through your support today!
P.S. Do you have a favorite memory from the Turtle Pond? We want to hear from you! Share your story and photos here.
*Your certificate is real, but turtle-naming is symbolic and does not indicate adoption or ownership of any turtles.
*Funds raised beyond what is necessary for pond maintenance will support undergraduate students in the Department of Integrative Biology through Texas Field Station Network.
