ROW ACROSS TEXAS 2024
Texas Crew
Texas Crew, the rowing club of the University of Texas at Austin, is fundraising to compete at a national level, upgrade equipment, and make the sport more accessible to all students.
WHO WE ARE:
We are a collegiate club sport at the University of Texas at Austin, led by head coach Sean McKenna and Derek Snyder. The people that compose our team are individuals that are dedicated, hardworking, competitive, and active. As our practices are 5:15-7:15, it requires individuals that are organized and punctual as well. Rowing leads to an amelioration of interpersonal teamwork and communication.
WHAT WE ARE FUNDRAISING FOR:
Each year, we set our sights high. Our league, the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA), is the world's largest and fastest-growing rowing association with 136 current colleges and universities. Last year, we took home Gold in the Men's Novice 4 event at ACRA, along with many silvers and bronzes, and we are striving for even more regalia this year.
We rely heavily on fundraising efforts to keep the team afloat. With little financial support from the University, we are working hard to keep our name at the top while navigating limited finances, and we cannot do it alone. With your financial support, we can bring new members into our sport, upgrade and repair equipment, race, and ensure a student-athlete experience that will be cherished for a lifetime.
To raise awareness for our needs, we hold our thirty-day Row Across Texas campaign each fall. The title comes from the on-campus, week-long event we hold, in which we use ergs (rowing machines) to simulate rowing the longest straight-line distance across Texas. Our rowers will take shifts throughout the week to complete the 801-mile stretch, and one 24-hour straight erg period will even be live-streamed!
YOUR IMPACT:
Your donation means something to us. As said before, we are entirely student-run, except for coaching. This means that equipment, travel, financing, and transportation are all scheduled and managed by UT students, and the biggest way Texas Crew makes money is from donations. Furthermore, we are building a legacy, Texas Crew was established in 1969, and thus by donating you are contributing to the long-term success and growth of the rowing program, allowing for the sport of rowing to aggrandize.
With your donation, you are supporting team members by offsetting our regatta expenses, which makes the sport more accessible to everyone. Contributions help Texas Crew continue to provide men and women at the University of Texas at Austin the best chance to fall in love with the sport of rowing. When you donate, you are investing in the future of this team.
