Timber Strong is the newest student competition offered by The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The ASCE UT Chapter is a student-led professional organization that provides students with the opportunity to learn more about the industry through general meetings with companies, outreach projects, and hands-on competitions.
Timber Strong offers students hands-on experience with computer aided design software, structural calculations, and power tools. We also focus on the sustainability of the structure by recycling the project after symposium and providing carbon footprint calculations. No matter what area of civil engineering students are interested in, our competition provides a multitude of opportunities to help them succeed in their career.
Our goal is to make it to symposium for the first time, where we will compete against other schools in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Mexico. We are looking for funding to buy equipment such as ladders, drills, hammers, and hardhats that can be used by our team and future UT teams at symposium. Additionally, we will be using the money to buy materials, such as wood and fasteners, for our structure.
Your generous contributions will go towards furthering the skills of UT students and providing them with the unique experience of going to symposium in April.
