WHO WE ARE:
We are a team of interdisciplinary students actively contributing and supporting an international team of scientists, engineers, and collaborators to compete in the XPRIZE Wildfire Challenge - a 3-year, $4.5 million global competition aiming to end destructive wildfires. United in our mission to combat the escalating global threat of wildfires, we seek to develop an autonomous fire detection and suppression system designed to protect lives, ecosystems, and property.
We collaborate with faculty experts in their fields to complete course-driven projects, conduct hands-on research, and provide field research support.
WHY NOW:
Wildfires are no longer just a distant disaster but a growing threat to people everywhere. The XPRIZE Wildfire Competition aims to spur innovation of firefighting technologies that will end destructive wildfires. We believe that our team of leading scientists and engineers is capable of creating firefighting technologies that dramatically improve the detection and suppression of damaging wildfires, enabling the safe management of all high-risk fires.
The competition semifinals will take place in March 2025. To advance to the next stage, the team must demonstrate the capabilities of our proposed solution, and student research is critical to making that happen. Since the start of the spring semester, we’ve been full steam ahead with building and testing.
There’s no time to waste. As the risks grow with every passing year, so does the urgency to act.
