We are the UT Trombone Choir!

The University of Texas Trombone Choir is an ensemble made up of music students, members of the Trombone Studio, as well as some non-music majors. The Trombone Choir is Internationally known and receives invitations to perform all around the globe. Recent studio trips include travel to Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Brazil, and Mexico. Here’s a few pics from our recent trips to Zurich and Mexico City!

Every year, the Trombone Choir gives multiple performances in the Austin community and around central Texas. We love meeting new people in each place we perform and getting to share our music with them. So far during the 2024-2025 school year we have performed at Shepherd of the Hills in West Lake, First Presbyterian Austin, Fredericksburg United Methodist as part of the Fredericksburg Music Club concert series, and more!

This year the choir has been invited to perform at the 2025 Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio as well as the 2025 American Trombone Workshop in Washington DC. These two conferences are among the largest in the industry and both are very well attended. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our music with the world at these huge events!

We are hoping to raise $6,000 to support our travel fund for these performances this year as well as trips in the upcoming school year. Donations will go toward covering costs such as travel and transportation, lodging, festival costs, meals, and other trip expenses. We would sincerely appreciate any donations toward our travel fund. Thank you for helping us reach our goal!

Here’s a little more info about our ensemble:
The University of Texas Trombone Choir was founded in the fall of 1977 by professor emeritus and trombone legend Donald Knaub. It serves as a laboratory extension of the trombone studio. The group tours regionally, nationally, and internationally, and performs regularly in the Austin area.  Members of the  trombone studio have a strong tradition of excellence by consistently winning prizes in international, national, and local solo competitions; and, upon graduation, securing important post in performing organizations and educational institutions. Over the years, members of the trombone studio have performed for visiting dignitaries, several Texas Governors, and a U.S. President. The award-winning University of Texas Jazz Bones is a smaller subset of the larger Trombone Choir.
