At UT Elementary School (UTES), the educators pride themselves in facilitating innovative and engaging learning experiences for the students. This school, situated in the heart of a underserved and once dilapidated community, is a beacon of hope and best practices. Educators from UT Elementary believe that a quality holistic educational experience helps to guide students into successful pathways. Every child is a diamond that needs to be cultivated and polished in order to shine; UT Elementary is doing just that.

"The first couple of weeks at UTES, my son cried every day and it broke my heart. He was shy, did not have friends, and did not believe he was worthy of achievement. He suffered from severe depression and used self-afflicting methods to cope with his failures or mistakes. Through the encouragement of his teacher Mrs. Smith, he relunctantly agreed to attend the Outdoor School at Camp Champions with his fifth grade class. It was that experience that set the foundation for the rest of the school year. He returned happy; he had made friends and came home with a resounding change in his attitude. In his words, he "learned to overcome fear." He knew that if he put his mind to anything he wanted in life, he could do it."  -Ms. C

40 5th grade students will take an exhilarating 3 day, 2 night field-trip to Camp Champions in Marble Falls, Texas. Teachers will accompany and engage students on this field trip.

Camp Champions is a venue that has exciting activities and trained professionals to assist students in maximizing their potential and overcoming their fears. It is the place where students realize that there is indeed a champion inside of them. The students will be able to experience camping and outdoor excursions including archery, fishing, water quality testing, rock climbing, high ropes courses, kayaking, night sensory activities and much more!

The field-trip will help the students develop bonds with each other as well as with the teachers. It will build their confidence as they realize that every goal is achievable through hard work and tenacity. The students will be challenged to explore heights, literally, and climb their way to the top. Camp Champions will show the students they are champions who possess keen critical thinking and collaborations skills. This experience will enable the students to use their new-found knowledge and experience to be successful throughout their k-12 experience, and into their collegiate tenure. Most of our Little Longhorns have never had an experience like Camp Champions, which helps build confidence, self-esteem, and communication among this diverse group of students. Research shows that exposing students to different experiences is beneficial for their growth and development. We invite your support in making this trip a reality for students who we know will be society shakers and world changers! We thank you to serve as a champion for these students!
