Send Texas Quidditch to Nationals

Texas Quidditch has qualified for US Quidditch Cup 10 in Kissimmee, Florida!  To support the team in winning a national championship and lighting the UT Tower orange this year, consider donating to our 30 day fundraising campaign on Hornraiser to help us raise $3,000 for the tournament entry fee, some of the hotel reservations, and rental cars at nationals. Any funds not raised will be paid for out-of-pocket by the team. Out of pocket expenses for the team and players include, but are not limited to: medical expenses, team athletic apparel and footwear, USQ fees (membership fees, tournament registration costs), travel expenses (flights, rental cars, gas, etc.), food, community service overhead, quidditch equipment, etc.

Who we are

Texas Quidditch became a recognized UT Club Sport in 2010. Within a few years, Texas Quidditch emerged as the premier program in the nation with a National Title win in 2013. Texas Quidditch continued its winning tradition with two more National Titles in 2014 and 2015. Unfortunately, in 2016, Texas Quidditch suffered it's first loss at a National tournament in four years. The team has been working hard ever since to bring the National Title back to UT, and to light the tower orange once more. We practice as a team twice each weekend and condition together throughout the week.

Simon Arends is the coach, while Nick Marino and Rajan Makanji are the captains for the 2016-2017 season. The Texas Quidditch roster is listed, by position, below.

In addition to having full class schedules and part-time jobs, Texas Quidditch players make time to give back to the community in the form of community service projects and events. We participate in canned food drives and volunteer at soup kitchens. In addition, we regularly volunteer time to spread our love for the sport by teaching younger children how to play quidditch or  "kidditch".

About the Sport

Quidditch is a gender inclusivefull contact sport adapted from J.K. Rowling's book series Harry Potter.

"US Quidditch is the national governing body for the sport of quidditch. USQ advances the sport by organizing events and programs that build community and empower all genders to compete together. Inspired by the Harry Potter novels and founded in 2010, we serve over 4,000 athletes on almost 200 teams nationwide."
