Show Your Heart for the Community
You can show your heart for community health by helping fund the purchase of an ECG machine for The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Family Wellness Clinic. With this machine, health care providers will be able to assess patients more quickly, accurately and efficiently and thereby reduce the number of cases referred to local hospitals — and the cost that entails. The Welch Allyn CP 150 ECG costs $ 2,500.00.
You can help keep our kids and communities healthy by supporting our immunization program. This program prevents our children from catching deadly diseases and helps to fight against the current flu pandemic by providing $2,500 to purchase flu and other vaccines to be administered to underserved children at the Children’s Wellness Clinic in Del Valle.
About the Wellness Center
The nurse-managed Wellness Center has two clinic locations where nurse practitioners provide primary care and manage acute and chronic conditions.
The School of Nursing began providing health care to the uninsured and underserved of Travis County with a breast cancer screening project in 1990. In 1991, the Women’s Wellness Clinic began offering breast and cervical cancer screening services for women in Travis County with financial support from the Texas Department of Health, Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the Veritas Foundation.
As the need for accessible health care in Central Texas increased, the School expanded services to include family practice and established the Family Wellness Clinic and the Children’s Wellness Clinic.
