Graduation

April 10, 2018

We are halfway through the HornRaiser campaign and what a better way to celebrate than to share our latest celebration.

This past Saturday, April 7, 2018 we celebrated another year of Academia Cuauhtli. Our Aguilas (eagles) performed a ceremonial Danza Mexica alongside Danza Xochipilli under the direction of Abuela Rosa Tupina Yaotonalcuauhtli. While it was a chilly morning, seeing the children dance with confidence was exhilarating.

We also had the privilege to have Dr. Gilberto Soto, a Professor of Music Education/Guitar at Texas A&M University – Laredo. Dr. Soto has published bilingual books, reviewed elementary music education textbooks, and received numerous awards for his contributions to bilingual music education, especially in underrepresented communities.

Here is just a sneak peak of the amazing celebration that took place.

A special thank you to all the volunteers and community who have helped make another year possible. As HornRaiser supporters you are contributing to this wonderful experience. We always say this project is possible because of the power of community and love.
