Help future special education teachers study abroad!
Our motto here at UT is what starts here changes the world. If you want to do that, you must experience the world.
Unfortunately, the way our preservice teacher certification programs here at UT are set-up include really rigid and prescribed course schedules, future Longhorn teachers are often unable to study abroad and still graduate in 4 years.
Even if the study abroad situation fits into a student's degree plan (which the program I'm leading does), studying abroad is often not financially feasible for many of our students. Nearly 1/3 of our education majors are first-generation college students, and a large percentage of our students work, with many covering all their costs and tuition themselves. In addition, our programs require at least 1000 unpaid hours in schools for internships and student teaching. (And of course they aren't going into a lucrative field where they can expect a large paycheck to help pay back student loans.)
Help send future Longhorn teachers to study aboard on my program in Taipei or any of the many College of Education study abroad experiences. Your contribution will go directly to offset costs for a special education major. Every dollar we raise will go directly to helping a student go experience the world. Help them take the world by the Horns!
Help cover the costs of meals for students studying abroad by donating at this level (whether are eating Taiwanese Street food, having tea in Cambridge, or eating sushi in Tokyo!)
All students must pay a $75 application fee to Texas Global as part of their applications to study abroad. Donating at this level helps students clear the first hurdle to going abroad!
Many of our students have never traveled abroad and do not currently have passports. Help cover the cost of a passport for a future teacher!
For students going to Taipei wiith me, we will be staying in dorms at National Taiwan Normal University as a way to help keep costs low. This level will cover lodging for one student for the entire trip!
Help cover a student's round-trip airfare from Texas to Taipei, Cambridge, Copenhagen, or Tokyo!
Cover all costs for one future special education teacher to study abroad - this would include program fees, airfare, accommodations, and food!
