Our Crowdfunding Groups
We are the Texas Travesty, UT's official humor newspaper. Since 2000, we've won The Austin Chronicle’s Best Local Publication Award on seven different occasions, conducted interviews with comedians such as Jon Stewart, Nikki Glaser, and Hannibal Buress, produced a UT student-body President and Vice-President, and hosted comedy and variety shows across Austin, Texas. We are raising money this year so that our video staff can have a budget for video equipment and event attendance. In the past, we've shot videos at political rallies and at Texas Roundup, and we're looking to raise money so that our staff can do similar things without resorting to their phones to film. Specifically, we want to buy a Sony PD 150 Camcorder, a PCM Zoom Recorder, and some LAV mics.
Secondly, our staff is constantly hungry while producing new issues, and has often resorted to knawing on the newest staff member for survival. Funds would help us afford the occasional pizza to keep spirits up.
Finally, we have no merchandise and thus suffer from a severe lack of self-esteem. With merchandise, we would probably still have low self-esteem but it might be a little higher than it is right now.
