THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!
Thank you to everyone who has helped us so far. Only 2 days left to help us reach our goal. Here is your last chance to support all of these outstanding students in our goal to bring UT Jazz to Brazil. Share the link with your friends and family, there is still time, but not much!
Thank you to everyone who has helped us to halfway through our hornraiser. Want to know what else you can do? Please help us get the message out with the following video, and learn a little Portuguese at the same time!
We had a great second week and we thank everyone for the contributions that have helped getting us to this point. Nearly halfway through! Can you get us over 50%. Spread the word! Have you met our Rhythm Section yet? Check it out!
Thank you, to everyone who has helped us get to 20%. And the 1st week isn't even over yet! Can you help us reach 25% before the end of the first week? For those of you who have already contributed, you're all gems! Have you met our trombone section? We'll be introducing each section as we go so you can get to know the student musician/composers who directly benefit from your generosity. Donate now, to help make this trip happen! Did you know that just 17 students played 32 different instruments on our last concert? That includes trumpet, trombone, and saxophones, flute, piccolo, clarinet, Bass clarinet, Tuba, acoustic guitar, and flugelhorn, to name a few! That’s a crowded stage!
The state of Sao Paulo is the most populous state in Brazil, with over 45,540,000 people. We hope to get them all dancing when we visit!
A full piano has 88 keys, from really low notes, to incredibly high. A good arranger knows how to use every one.
Tarsila de Aguiar do Amaral was one of the great modernist painters of Brazil. If she were alive today, she’d be 133!
Cacilda Borges Barbosa was a Brazilian pianist, conductor and composer who pioneered electronic music. She lived until 2010 in August.
Assistant directors do everything behind the scenes that make performances go off without a hitch, including printing, binding, passing out, and collecting music. That can be 500 pages or more, for a single concert!
The Director is the lynchpin of any project. They know a performance inside and out and see the 1000 tiny details that make it up, and also understand the big picture bird's eye view from 1000 ft up.
Did you know the distance between Austin and Sao Paulo is about 5,000 miles? 5,012, to be exact. We will travel every one of those miles thanks to your help. Any donor who would like to join this level will have a song from one of our student composers dedicated to them and video of the performance will be available to view and share!
