Now that our Hornraiser is concluded, we would like to say thank you to everyone who donated and shared our project. We are so grateful for your support and could not serve the band as effectively as we do without you. Your contributions will help us financially support our deserving members so they can continue to succeed academically and help the university and our community.

Thank you, and Hook 'em!

Project Update

April 26, 2021

Hello everyone!

First off, thank you to our donors. Over the past week we have made tremendous progress towards our goal. This would not be possible without your help and support. We would like to introduce to you several members of our most recent MC class, ENCELADUS. John, Wesley, and Josh, to talk about their experiences with Kappa Kappa Psi!

My name is John Gutierrez, and I'm a third-year Economics student with a minor in Chinese. The Longhorn Band has been has offered me the chance to meet friends and form bonds while serving the UT community, and my brotherhood in KKY has allowed me to expand this network of friends while also giving back to LHB. I don't know where I would be today without LHB and KKY. Performing acts of service with my brothers gives me a feeling of responsibility, and being able to call those same brother my friends makes me happy and fulfilled.

My name is Wesley Lao. I’m a third year Aerospace Engineering major. KKY gives me a chance to give back to the organization that has provided me a community and my closest friends at UT. One of my favorite recent projects was improving the cage. Although large scale team efforts were cut short by Covid, the first few days of the whole chapter working together to renovate our storage space was some of the most fun I’ve had while serving with my brothers.

Hello! My name is Joshua Churchill and I’m a 3rd-year Arts & Entertainment Technologies major, minoring in Landscape Studies. KKY has given me the opportunity to work alongside so many caring and passionate individuals not only in contexts of the Longhorn Band but also on a day-to-day basis. Seeing such high energy and mutual respect across brothers echoes across our relationships with each other and throughout LHB, having such an exponentially positive outcome. From helping out LHB and visiting bands on game days I have seen an exchange of high appreciation for everyone involved, which I don’t believe I could have experienced in such a magnitude without KKY.

Our scholarship endowment will directly support members like these. Please continue to share this campaign and consider contributing if you have not already. We are very close to closing this endowment and being able to give out scholarships this fall. Your donations really do make a difference.

For any questions or to find out more about staying in touch with the chapter, please reach out to Daniel Weber at texaskky.president@gmail.com.

Thank you and Hook 'em!

$22

The MCs

In Fall 2021, 22 Membership Candidates from class COSMOS will join our organization. This group of wonderful individuals represents the future of our chapter, which this endowment will help support.

$54

The Members

The Alpha Tau Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi boast 54 active members from a wide variety of backgrounds and majors. Each and every member has sacrificed their time to serve the Longhorn Band.

$382

The Band

In Fall of 2019, 382 students were part of the Longhorn Band. Kappa Kappa Psi worked hard to provide gear, equipment, and food to all of them at rehearsals and games.

$1,940

The Chapter

In May of 1940, twenty-eight members of the University of Texas Longhorn Band, under the direction of Colonel George E. Hurt, petitioned the national office of Kappa Kappa Psi for a charter. The charter was granted, and the local chapter was given the name Alpha Tau Nu. After some time, the original chapter name was shortened to Alpha Tau, the chapter’s present name.
